Kronborg Slot, castle in Helsingor

Posted 1 year ago by pedro in response to avatar miki's question: What's that castle hosting Shakespeare representations of Hamlet in Helsingor? (give a different answer) .

Kronborg Slot, 45 minutes by train from Copenhagen, is a castle that seems taken from Shakespeare's tragedy, even though it was built much earlier, in 1420. In the torch-lit yard are held occasional performances of Hamlet, for a 9$ admission. The castle is fascinating: with its secret passages and spooky dungeons, it's giving off mystery vapors. For 400 years, it was the place to collect the taxes imposed by the Dutch crown to passing ships.
